Protein Name Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 37f
Gene Name MED37F
Organism Arabidopsis thaliana (Mouse-ear cress).
Sequence Length 668
Subcellular Localization Endoplasmic reticulum lumen . Nucleus .
Protein Description Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. The Mediator complex, having a compact conformation in its free form, is recruited to promoters by direct interactions with regulatory proteins and serves for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors.; Probably plays a role in facilitating the assembly of multimeric protein complexes inside the ER. Involved in polar nuclei fusion during female gametophyte development and is essential for the regulation of endosperm nuclei proliferation.; In cooperation with other chaperones, Hsp70s stabilize preexistent proteins against aggregation and mediate the folding of newly translated polypeptides in the cytosol as well as within organelles. These chaperones participate in all these processes through their ability to recognize nonnative conformations of other proteins. They bind extended peptide segments with a net hydrophobic character exposed by polypeptides during translation and membrane translocation, or following stress-induced damage (By similarity)..
