Plays a central role in diffusion of morphogens hedgehog (hh), wingless (wg) and Decapentaplegic (dpp) via its role in heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) biosynthesis, HSPGs being required for movement of Hh, Dpp and wg morphogens..
