Protein Name:
UDP-D-apiose/UDP-D-xylose synthase 1
|
UniprotKB/SwissProt ID: Q9ZUY6 (Q9ZUY6)
Gene Name:
AXS1
Organism: Arabidopsis thaliana (Mouse-ear cress)
Function: Together with AXS2, catalyzes the conversion of UDP-D-glucuronate into a mixture of UDP-D-apiose (UDP-Api) as the main product and UDP-D-xylose to a lesser extent, via a cycle of oxidation and reduction (PubMed:12969423, PubMed:31844840, PubMed:32662159). D-Apiose (3-C-hydroxymethyl-d-erythrose) is the only plant cell wall monosaccharide with a branched carbon skeleton and is found in rhamnogalacturonan II (RG-II), apiogalacturonan, and several apioglycosides (PubMed:12969423, PubMed:32662159)
