Accessible Surface Area (ASA) is the surface area of a molecule that is accessible to a solvent.
The image on the right (1W7B, PDBID) highlights CYS 133 (site number) as a confirmed S-nitrosylation modification site (yellow ball), representing the cysteine sulfur atom. The blue part indicates an ASA value of 10 by DSSP, with a percentage of 8.26. The red part shows other sites near the surface.
In this study, we selected 298 high-quality protein sites to observe ASA values, including 85 single-chain sites and 213 multi-chain sites.
