Protein Name:
Monodehydroascorbate reductase, chloroplastic/mitochondrial
|
UniprotKB/SwissProt ID: P92947 (P92947)
Gene Name:
MDAR5
Organism: Arabidopsis thaliana (Mouse-ear cress)
Function: Catalyzes the conversion of monodehydroascorbate (MDA) to ascorbate, oxidizing NADH in the process (PubMed:26339024). Mediates phytotoxicity of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), an explosive and environmental pollutant, by reducing TNT and forming a nitro radical that spontaneously reacts with atmospheric oxygen, generating reactive superoxide (PubMed:26339024). Can also use 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB) as substrate, but not 1-chloro-4-nitrobenzene (CNB) (PubMed:26339024)

Protein Subcellular Localization: Plastid, chloroplast. Mitochondrion
